Grilled (BBQ) Honey Garlic Chicken Skewers
(Sweet, savoury, and perfect for little helpers!)
Here’s a fun and easy Grilled Honey Garlic Chicken Skewers recipe that you and the kids can make together!
Ingredients
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
- 1 bell pepper (any colour), chopped
- 1 small courgette, sliced
- ½ red onion, chopped
- 8-10 cherry tomatoes (optional)
- Wooden skewers (soaked in water for 30 minutes)
Marinade:
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder (or 2 minced garlic cloves)
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika (optional, for extra flavour)
Instructions:
- Prep the Chicken – Cut the chicken into bite-sized chunks. (Grown-up task!)
- Make the Marinade – In a bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Marinate – Let the kids help mix the chicken into the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours).
- Assemble Skewers – Kids can help thread the marinated chicken, bell peppers, zucchini, onion, and cherry tomatoes onto the skewers.
- Grill – Preheat the grill (BBQ) to medium-high heat. An adult can grill the skewers for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through (internal temp (75°C).
- Serve – Enjoy with rice, a salad, or some garlic bread!
